About
- This list is based on data generated near the end of 2008 by Hiroshi Utsumi.
- From Hiroshi Utsumi's documentation, "I analyzed word frequencies in Goo Blog to know daily expressions.
Goo Blog is a popular blog service, and the expressions are used by
modern Japanese people."
- The numbers indicate the number of hits shown by Yahoo.co.jp for blog.goo.ne.jp (Goo ブログ) that contained the words.
- The English definitions are from Jim Breen's EDICT Japanese-English Dictionary (2008-10-02 Version)
- The code (P) in the EDICT definition indicates commonly-used words in cases where multiple meanings appear.
- I sorted Utsumi's data in order of frequency, selected the first 60,000 items, then put these items on 60 pages. This gives about 55,884 unique items, not counting words with multiple pronunciations and meanings that got more than 1,200 hits.
- One thing you should be aware of is that words that are likely to occur on almost every page of Goo Blogs such as the following probably are higher on the frequency list than they really deserve to be.
- WWW、URL、ブログ、年、月、日、コメント、メール、
トラック、ウェブ、バック、ホーム、ログイン、 days of the week, etc.
