Assigning Web Homework to Non-connected Classes

A Conference Presentation by Charles Kelly and Larry Kelly

Abstract

Even if you teach in a classroom without computers, it is possible to use the Web for homework assignments. This session will show the weekly web homework assignments given to freshmen students at Aichi Institute of Technology in Toyota, Japan. Though these classes were not taught in a computer lab, students were introduced to useful sites for studying English as well as being directed to some of our own web-based pronunciation practice, vocabulary building and other study materials. Students were also shown the dangers of computer translation and how to successfully use English language search engines. Each week students submitted written work to their teachers via a web submission form that sent the data to each teacher in an easy-to-administer format.
